“Yoga means addition – addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul.”
Katie Lascola
Katie was introduced to yoga in 2005 while working as a social worker in Philadelphia. Initially she saw yoga as a means to tone and strengthen muscles and increase flexibility. Soon it was apparent that yoga not only had physical benefits, but mental and emotional as well. Katie found a way to nourish herself, find calmness and breathe. In 2010 she completed her Yoga Alliance 200 hour teacher training certification and began teaching at Yoga Flow in Pittsburgh.
In addition to teaching studio classes, Katie teaches corporate yoga and in 2015 attained her children’s yoga certification through Yoga Playgrounds. She enjoys teaching various workshops including live music, yoga for runners, and yoga for survivors of sexual assault. Katie loves her community and the people within it and wants nothing more than to share with others what her yoga journey has given her...the ability to breathe through anything, courage, strength, and a sense of peace.
Sara Herrmann
Sara first stepped foot onto a yoga mat in 2003, and began practicing consistently in 2007 after a knee injury. Yoga not only improved her overall strength but, it also taught her how to manage every day stressors, resulting in peace and harmony in both the mental and physical body on and off the mat. A teacher by nature, Sara was inspired to expand her efforts outside of her foreign language classroom and completed her 200 HR RYT in June 2017.
As a native Pittsburgher, Sara enjoys dog walks in city parks, swimming in the summer, riding her bike, traveling, and immersing herself in other cultures. She is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
In her class expect a creative, fun and mindful flow, focusing on alignment. Experience pranayama, or breathing techniques and their energizing and calming effects on the body. Be open to moving around the entire mat with mandalas for different perspectives. Expect to let go, have fun, move mindfully with carefully cultivated playlists, release negative energy and fill up with contentment.
Kelly Rezak
Kelly first came to yoga in 2000 while at the University of Pittsburgh and practiced periodically for the next decade. In 2010 yoga became an integral part of her work out routine. As her practice deepened, she found that the strength, breath and focus needed in yoga has helped her successfully take on other challenges, from pregnancy to marathon training. She finds the lengthening and stretching in yoga to be the perfect balance to running and other high impact workouts. Practicing yoga has not only improved her strength and flexibility, it has brought balance to many aspects of her life.
For Kelly, yoga is a great physical and mental practice which allows her to release the stresses of everyday life and to "just be".
Once Kelly started to see the many positive changes yoga brought to her own life, she was inspired to share this practice with others. In 2015 Kelly achieved her RYT 200 hour certification through the Yoga Alliance. Her classes combine a series of energetic poses and stretching, which are all connected through the power of inhaling and exhaling. The goal is to build both strength and flexibility, while creating a stronger mind/body connection. A basic understanding of yoga is helpful, but all levels are encouraged.
