The winter solstice marks the day with the shortest period of daylight and the longest night. It is a time of transition, with the old year ending and our journey into the New Year beginning. In yoga we celebrate the solstice with 108 Sun Salutations. This is an opportunity to release any darkness from the past year and enter the illuminated New Year with clarity, intention and goals. We will begin our practice in a darkened room to acknowledge the passing of 2018 and the challenges we faced. Our invigorating flow will allow us to breathe and create the space for a blissful beginning to a new year. During our practice, candles will be lit to represent the longer days ahead. A brief rest will be incorporated every 9 rounds to write a short affirmation for the upcoming year (materials will be provided). At the end of your practice you will be in a candle lit room, glowing with intention and you will have 12 affirmations, 1 for each month of 2019. This empowering workshop is open to all levels. Regular class passes accepted.
