Jennifer has been teaching yoga since 2006. Her first experience with yoga was in a class at Pitt in 1998. The unique physical practice, close attention to breath, and calming effects immediately resonated. After college, her practice deepened with influential teachers, workshops and conferences where she learned from a wide variety of yoga styles. She taught in Pittsburgh at Yoga on the Square and Schoolhouse Yoga where she also earned her 200-hour teaching certificate under the guidance of Joanne VandenHengel (Himalayan Institute). Yoga has become a part of her life and she enjoys sharing her knowledge, experience and passion for the practice with her students. Off the mat, Jennifer works in Marketing and is the Mother of two great kids who keep her busy!
In class, students can expect: quieting the mind in a brief meditation, moving fluidly with breath to tune into the body and connecting with the asanas (poses) in new, subtle ways while paying close attention to alignment. Be prepared to try poses you might not be familiar with and learn a little bit of Sanskrit along the way. Music will be played to help you drown out the mind chatter so that you can delve inward. Modifications will always be offered so that every student feels successful in their practice.
